More on our Strategy…

Context: The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (2019) ranked Uganda as the most entrepreneurial countries in the world, recording the highest youth entrepreneurs at 55%. However, most businesses in Uganda also die within 2 years.

Also, according to the Mastercard Index of Women Entrepreneurs (2019) Uganda has the highest number of female entrepreneurs globally with 4 out of every 10 businesses in Uganda owned by women: this highest proportion in the world. Furthermore, Uganda has one the youngest populations in the world with 75% of the people below 35years and Uganda’s employment rate is just around 43%.

So out of every 10 Ugandans who are employable, only 4 are employed. This means that many more Ugandan youth must become entrepreneurial and create their own employment and their own jobs. Entrepreneurship is borne out of ideation and innovation.

The Ideation Corner aims to support the youth, especially women, to create more jobs, employment, and trade by:

Providing the youth especially women with cheap non-collateralised capital and seed funding to scale their businesses.

Providing the youth especially women with a platform to showcase their innovative business ideas.

Engaging with policy makers and advocate regulatory and policy framework that catalyses youth entrepreneurship.

Providing the youth especially women with incubator services to conceptualise, develop and implement their ideas.
